1. What can you tell me about your painting standard?

We have only one painting standard; wargames quality.  We paint troops for wargamers, troops intended to be seen as a unit, 2 meters away on a wargames table.  We make no bones about this; if you need (expensive) display quality painted figures then we are not the painting service for you. However, our painted figures consistently receive very high marks by customers that have bought them.

2. Do you need painting instructions?

We do not because we have all the expertise we need right here at MMPS. However we do not know everything so when in doubt we will ask.

3. Can I buy units that are smaller than your standard units, or single figures?

We do not sell smaller units nor do we sell single figures. If you need units that are larger than what we offer we can do that for you, but you will need to talk to us first.

4. Can I buy extra command?

We can only buy extra command sprues direct and at full price from the Perry Brothers in the UK. The high shipping and import costs of this means that these figures are a precious commodity to us so no, we cannot sell you extra command UNLESS you are willing to pay a premium price for it to cover our costs.

5. Can you send me a painted sample?

Sorry, we do not provide samples because one single sample cannot show you how a painted MMPS unit looks on your wargames table.

6. Do you have a discount scheme?

We do have discounts on Army Deals and occasional sales etc. but we do not have a permanent discount scheme based on dollar amounts spent. Our figures are already priced as low as we can go. We do not charge you for the PayPal commission on your order so that is actually already a permanent 3 to 4% discount.

7. How do I order and do I need to sign up for an account at MMPS?

You can only order and pay through our Web Shop, we cannot accept e-mail, phone or fax orders.

We do not require you to sign up for an account at MMPS when you actually place an order but doing so will give you several advantages.

    First of all you can track the fulfilment status of your orders in real-time.

    You have access to the registration number that you can use to have your local post office locate your registered parcel should it be over due.

    You do not need to enter your address again every time you order something.

    You will be automatically included in any raffles, sales or other special “customer only” deals that we may have in the future.

    MMPS can keep track of the number of orders that you have placed on our website so, in time and at our discretion, we can reward you with a permanent Loyal Customer Discount.

Signing up for a customer account is free,  safe and private and it will only take you 2 minutes.

8. What happens after I place my order?

After you have placed your order you will receive some automated e-mails confirming the order and the payment. As soon as we find your order and payment in our inbox we will send you an e-mail to touch base with you and to make sure that we know exactly what unit(s) you want us to paint for you. We will then assemble and paint your order as soon as we can.

9. How long do I have to wait for you to paint my order?

That depends on how many orders are in line before yours and how large your order is. We use the “First In, First Out” principle so new orders are added at the end of the list and it could be a couple of weeks before we can start to paint your order.  That is why we ask to allow us 30 days to get your troops in the mail to you. That is usually enough time for small and medium sized orders, if we need more time we will tell you up front.

10. How do you ship my parcel?

We have 3 Philippine Post airmail shipping methods at our disposal. Which one we can use depends on the weight of your order and on where in the world you are.  For shipments within the Philippines we use LBC.

11. How long does it take for my parcel to get here?

That depends on many factors but your country’s customs- and postal system are a major factor. In our experience it takes anywhere between 1 and 6 weeks for a parcel from the Philippines to arrive at any destination in the world. We cannot be more precise as shipping times seem to change every month.

12. What happens when I receive damaged goods?

We take every precaution that we can we when pack your order but we are not responsible for the possible maltreatment of your parcel while in transit to you. If you receive a damaged parcel then please take this up with your post office and claim compensation there.  If the damage is clearly our fault (faulty packing) then we will fairly compensate you for it.

13. What about insurance?

Philippine Post only offers insurance to a very short list of destinations. At this time we can ONLY insure your parcel by using a courier service. Please let us know explicitly if this is what you want as shipping by courier is expensive over here in the Philippines.

We will charge you costs of shipping only. We will estimate the costs once we receive your order as it is very much variable depending upon the size and destination.

14. What happens if an uninsured parcel gets lost in the mail?

MMPS does not accept responsibility for any shipment lost in the mail. Please keep this in mind when you order from us, all shipping is at your own risk. If you are not ok with that then please do not order from us. If it makes you feel better, we have never lost one parcel yet and we have sent over 500 parcels worldwide at this time  (June 2013).  Please read the paragraph about shipping in our Terms & Conditions for more details.

15. I have sent a contact form but I never got a reply.

We answer each and every e-mail and contact form and usually not long after we have received it. If this is not the case then please check your e-mail trash can, your spam box and your spam filter. If our mail is not there then it is possible that we have never received your mail. Try again but use our alternate e-mail address this time: mabuhay DOT painting AT yahoo DOT com.

16. Do your Ready Made Painted Units come with flags?

They do not come with flags. It is simply impossible for us to have every flag of every unit in stock and still offer our troops at a reasonable cost.  It is also our experience that the majority of our customers want to add their own flags anyway so we are not going to make life more difficult for them.

17. What about basing my order, can I tell you what I want?

Yes. We can base your troops to our standard basing dimensions or to the dimensions that you provide us with. Just tell us in the comments field of the product that you are buying how you want us to base it.

Standard Dimensions for Napoleonics and AWI:

Fusiliers and elites are mounted four abreast on 2 cm x 6 cm bases,  skirmishers are mounted individually on 2 cm x 1,5 cm bases. Cavalry is mounted in pairs on a 4,5 cm x 4 cm base.  Mounted officers on a 2,5 cm x 4 cm base and artillery on a 5 cm x 6 cm base.

Standard Dimensions for ACW:

All our ACW infantry units are based on our standard 4,5 cm x 4 cm bases. They are mounted 2 figures wide and 2 figures deep.  Cavalry is mounted in pairs on a 4,5 cm x 4 cm base.  Mounted officers on a 2,5 cm x 4 cm base and artillery on a 5 cm x 6 cm base.

Standard Dimensions for WW2:

Riflemen, NCO’s and officers are individually based on 20mm circular bases; weapons teams are based per team on 4cm x 4cm bases.

We use either the plastic Renadra bases that come with the Perry figures, or 1,5mm thick, high density cardboard for your bases.  We do not do pre-cut Litko bases, MDF bases, movement trays, slotted bases and so on and we do not do grass tufts, rocks, spent cannon balls etc on your bases.  If you want those then I suggest that you add them to our bases yourself later. Our bases are simple but effective and that is how we want to keep them.

18. Can you convert figures for me?

We can do conversions for you but we cannot do it for free. How much depends on the amount of time that we need to spend on your conversions.  Be advised that we will only take on small conversion projects and always talk to us first.

Back to top

19. Are you interested in doing a commission?

Maybe, just ask and we will see. MMPS is NOT a commission based painting service but we can be persuaded to help out a customer that has bought the bulk of his army from us by painting troops for him that we do not have in our catalog.  This is considered to be a commission and we will ONLY accept to do this if the customer is not in a hurry to get his painted figures back and when we have the time to paint a commission.

We cannot give a definitive timetable for your commission, as we will only work on it when there are no or few orders for ready-made, painted units to paint.  Be advised that we charge more for commissions and that we will only paint figures from periods of history that we already sell such as Napoleonics, ACW, AWI and WW2.

20. What if I have a question that is not addressed here?

Use our Contact Page to ask us that question and we will get back to you with an answer. If the question/answer is useful for all our customers we will add it to this FAQ.  Thank you in advance.

21. I received several e-mails after I placed an order, what does it all mean?

The automated mails that you receive from us after you have placed an order tell you about the payment status of your order and about it’s fulfillment status.

Payment status:

    Queued: means that your order is awaiting payment;

    Accepted: means that your payment is accepted by PayPal;

    Declined: means that your payment was declined by PayPal;

    Canceled: means that your payment was canceled before it was finalized. This of course also cancels your order.

Fulfillment status:

    New: means that your order is received by MMPS and that it is awaiting its turn to be processed;

    Processing: means that we have started to work on your order, it does not mean that it will be ready a few days later as there are several steps that it needs to go through first;

    First we have to assemble your order;

    then we coat your figures with a black acrylic base coat;

    then we paint them and let them dry for at least 12 hours.

    then we “brush on” varnish the figures with acrylic matt varnish and let them dry for another 12 hours;

    Then we base your order if that is what you requested;

    then we pack it to be shipped.

Processing covers all these steps so your order will be marked Processing from start to end, there are no more automated e-mails until we get to the next status.

    Shipped: means that your order is on it’s way to you.

You can check the status of your order at any time by consulting the “orders” tab of your MMPS customer account.
